LANDSCAPE
While in nature I can’t help but paint what I see. As I quickly attempt to capture the moment, it always seems like a race against time, the light, and shadow. This fleeting beauty of the moment is what interests me.

A starry sky, or the reflection of a full moon on a calm lake, are some of the most beautiful sights.
Because it’s night and the paper is black, I have a very hard time seeing what I’m drawing. These factors force me to work quickly and chaotically. I spend 3 - 5 minutes sketching on site, however long enjoying the view, and then 10 min finishing up back in the studio.

Camp was a huge influence on my art when I was younger. I grew up at summer camp and have very fond memories of my time there. It was only natural that I created artwork that would preserve this time in my life. A time when I didn’t have a care in the world.
